GENERAL RULES
All dance pieces for the 1st & 2nd Rounds must follow the these guidelines:

Time Minimum: 4 minutes
Time Maximum: 5 minutes
Time mark starts from the first sound/movement. Dance pieces must not exceed 5 minutes and must be at least 4 minutes.


THE ROUNDS

Round 1: The Evolution of Hip Hop
1. Select music from the 1980’s, 1990’s & 2000’s.
2. Compose a piece displaying the evolution of music and dance.

Criteria
Judging will be based on Technicality & Originality

Round 2: The Hit Factory
1. Select between movies, videos, songs and television shows.
2. Re-Create a piece displaying “a theme”. You may combine any of the choices above from the four categories.

Criteria
Judging will be based on Difficulty & Creativity

Round 3: The Battle
1. Compose six (6) different freestyle ‘street dance’ combinations - all three minutes each.
2. All compositions must follow the format of a 4/4 time signature in an up tempo. (e.g. Pump It Up, Lose Control, etc.)

Criteria
Judging will be based on Freestyle & Syncopation
